Social media has proved to be a mirror for our lives, or at least what we want people to think our life is. We turn to social media for communicating, keeping up with news and events, quelling boredom, and everything in between. This omnipresent programming in our social lives has unsurprisingly become the starting of many issues related to trust and mistrust. A whole new species of catfish. My pieces show the differences between this, and call out everyone that tend to show the better side of them, even though it may not be the side they always outwardly demonstrate. On the left is a photo I took off of my Instagram account, and on the right is me on a regular day. They are both parts of me, however, the one I chose to share was the better one. This is because as humans, we want to feel superior and continuously make the number of likes, followers, and shares more important than what our true selves consist of.
